We investigated the behavior of a pH-responsive polystyrene?b?poly(2-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (PS?b?PDMAEMA) diblock copolymer at air/water interface. synthetized different copolymers with small hydrophobic PS block constant length attached to polyelectrolyte PDMAEMA blocks various lengths. demonstrate that Langmuir monolayer is formed collapsed anchoring hydrophilic By combining macroscopic surface pressure measurements and specular neutron reflectivity, we studied monolayers as function density ? pH subphase. At = 2, fully charged system high behaves brush chains protruding in water gaussian profile. 10 where neutral, exhibits phase transition between pancake configuration configuration, threshold depends on chain length, agreement theoretical predicted scaling laws.
